We fill that envelope with halogen gas for a reason: it stops the filament from evaporating. What does that mean for you? It means the lamp runs hotter and lasts way longer than those old-school incandescent tubes. With 600W of power, you get a steady, reliable flow of heat without pushing the quartz to its breaking point. Getting them set up We used high-purity quartz because it lets the IR energy pass through without getting blocked. Most of these use R7s or similar slide-in connectors, so you can just pop them into your industrial oven arrays. No soldering. No headaches. Just slide them in and you’re good to go. Plus, that halogen cycle I mentioned? It keeps moving tungsten back onto the filament, so your heat output stays consistent over time. It doesn’t just fade away. Where they actually work You’ll usually see these in PET blowing machines, shrink tunnels, or curing lines. The magic here is that they heat the material itself, not the air around it. It’s much more efficient. A few things to watch out for Now, here’s the catch. These things gethot. Really hot. Because they ramp up so fast, you have to keep an eye on your reflectors. If they’re dirty or slightly off-center, heat can bounce back into the lamp and burn it out early. Take a second to check your focal points. And for heaven’s sake, check your cooling fans.
