Everything depends on that infrared energy hitting the preforms at just the right moment to soften them up before they hit the mold. If the heat is off, the whole batch is off. That’s why we built our 362mm 800W halogen lamp. It’s a simple, drop-in replacement designed for those high-cycle environments where you can’t afford any downtime. Why the size and power matter Here’s the thing: 800W packed into a 362mm length isn’t random. It’s about hitting that “glass transition temperature” fast. By using a shorter, high-wattage tube, you can blast the body of the preform with heat without accidentally melting the neck. Plus, the length is exact. It slides right into your oven rack without forcing it, which means you aren’t putting unnecessary stress on the quartz glass. The tech side of things We use a halogen cycle here. In plain English? It stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and gunking up the inside of the tube. This keeps the glass clear and the heat consistent for thousands of hours. The quartz itself is tough, so it doesn’t crack when you’re rapidly switching the power on and off. One quick tip: when you’re wiring these in,**keep your connectors spotless.**If there’s oxidation at the contact points, you’ll get localized overheating, and your lamp will burn out way sooner than it should. The trade-offs These lamps are fast. Really fast. Because they use shortwave radiation, they penetrate the plastic much quicker than those old-school ceramic heaters. You get your cycles done faster and you stop wasting energy. But, there is a catch. 800W in such a small footprint creates a lot of intense, concentrated heat. Before you fire it up, just double-check that your cooling fans are actually up to the task. If the airflow is choked, the lamp runs too hot and the filament will give up the ghost. Also, keep an eye on your voltage stability—spikes are the enemy here.
