Why the gold?
Here is the secret: standard quartz tubes are a bit leaky. They let a lot of heat escape as long-wave radiation, which is basically wasted energy. By adding a thin layer of gold to the quartz, we change the game. The gold acts like a mirror for the long-wave IR, bouncing it right back into the filament, while the short-wave IR sails straight through. The result? You get a tight, concentrated beam of heat. More energy hits your workpiece, and way less heat leaks into your machine chassis where it doesn’t belong.
The nitty-gritty
The 230V part is the baseline. From there, we adjust the wattage based on the length you need so the heat density stays exactly where it should be. We use high-purity quartz because these things get hot—really hot. Cheap glass would warp under that kind of thermal stress. Plus, we use standard industrial connectors, so you can just swap them into your existing rigs without a headache.
Real talk: Using them on the shop floor
If you’re doing PET blowing, curing, or drying, these are your best bet because they ramp up the heat almost instantly. But there is a catch. That gold coating is picky. If you touch the quartz with your bare hands, the oils from your skin stay behind. Those tiny smudges create “hot spots” that can cause the tube to burn out way too early.Wear gloves. Every single time. One last thing—take a look at your reflectors. If they’re pitted or covered in grime, you’re throwing away the benefits of the gold coating. Also, make sure your cooling fans are up to the task. The heat density at the ends of the lamp is intense, and if you don’t keep those seals cool, they’ll fail.
