It sinks in. Whether you’re trying to get seeds to germinate or keeping livestock warm during a cold snap, this heat penetrates deeper. It’s a concentrated punch of warmth. Just a heads-up, though—these things getseriously hot. Make sure your mounting brackets can take the heat, or you’ll end up with a warped housing. Why quartz and halogen? We went with high-purity quartz glass because it doesn’t freak out when the temperature swings. Standard glass would just crack under that kind of thermal shock. Inside, the halogen gas does the dirty work. It stops the tungsten from evaporating and clouding up the glass. This keeps the tube clear and the heat steady for the long haul. Plus, most of these use standard R7s or push-in connectors. You just pop the old one out and slide the new one in. Simple. Making them work in the real world Farms are messy. You’ve got dust, moisture, and constant vibrations. To keep your filaments from popping during a power surge, I’d suggest wiring them into a controller with a PID loop. It’s a safer bet. And a word of caution: these heat up fast. Really fast. Because the heat is so intense, keep them well away from plastic sheeting or dry bedding. You don’t want to overdo it—too much wattage in a small space is a quick way to overheat your animals or your gear. Keep it balanced.
