This 500mm tube pumps out 1200W of shortwave radiation. It doesn’t just warm things up; it punches right through coatings and inks almost the second you flip the switch. Let’s talk power. At 1200W, this thing is intense. Because it’s shortwave IR, you can hit those high surface temperatures you need for a quick cure without accidentally baking the rest of your material. It ramps up fast. Really fast. And that means your line keeps moving. Just a heads-up: this much power creates some serious heat soak. Make sure your housing and ventilation are up to the task, or you’ll risk overheating the ends of the lamp. The build quality We went with the SK15 connector because it actually stays put. There’s nothing worse than a cheap friction-fit end that wiggles loose when your machinery is humming along at full speed. This one locks in. Inside, the tungsten filament is wrapped in high-purity quartz. Why? Because cycling from room temperature to peak heat in a few seconds is a violent process. The quartz handles that thermal shock without breaking a sweat. Putting it to work For most industrial flash cure ovens, this is a simple drop-in replacement. Just wire it to a timed controller to handle your pulses. And since it’s halogen-filled, it’s got a bit more staying power. The halogen helps put the evaporated tungsten back onto the wire, which means the filament lasts longer than your standard IR lamps. One last thing—and this is important. Be careful when you’re handling the glass. If you get even a tiny bit of oil from your skin on the quartz, it creates a hot spot. That hot spot is a death sentence for the tube; it’ll burn out way sooner than it should. Do yourself a favor: grab some isopropyl alcohol and give the glass a good wipe before you slide it into the fixture. Your future self will thank you.
