
Let’s talk about the 625mm Quartz Halogen Lamp
When we sat down to build these infrared lamps, we had one goal: raw, high-intensity heat. We paired a 400V input with a 2000W output because that’s the sweet spot. It gives you the kind of heat density you need to flash-cure surfaces or heat things up almost instantly. Why 400V? It’s a practical choice for industrial setups. By going with 400V, we can push 2000W through that 625mm tube without pulling too much current. That’s a big deal because it keeps your wiring from getting dangerously hot. Just a heads-up: don’t try to run this on a lower voltage system. You simply won’t hit the temperatures you need. That 2000W punch is what makes the ramp-up time so fast—which is a lifesaver when your parts are flying through the heating zone on a conveyor. The build: Quartz and X-Clips We use high-purity quartz glass for the housing. Why? Because it can take a beating. When you cycle these lamps on and off rapidly, the thermal shock is intense. Standard glass would just shatter. Quartz handles it. Then there are the “X-clips.” They might look simple, but they’re doing a lot of heavy lifting. As the quartz heats up, it actually grows—it expands lengthwise. These clips let the tube “float” and move naturally. If we bolted them down tight, the tube would snap under its own pressure. Getting it running These are designed to be drop-in replacements for most shortwave IR arrays, so swapping them out is pretty painless. Plus, the halogen gas cycle keeps the filament from evaporating, meaning the lamp lasts a lot longer. But here is the thing: you’ve got to be obsessive about your reflectors. With 2000W of concentrated power, even a tiny misalignment in your mirrors can create “hot spots” that ruin your product. Also, make sure your controllers can handle the voltage spikes that happen right at startup. And one last tip? Check your fans. These tubes dump a massive amount of heat into the housing, so make sure your cooling system is actually up to the task.
