Introduction
We built this 475mm, 2000W halogen infrared lamp for engineers who need serious heat in a small space. It’s not a general-purpose bulb. It’s a focused heating tool, built for the tough industrial jobs where you can’t compromise on power—even when room is tight.
Power, voltage, and size—what it really means
At 2000W, this lamp packs a lot of heat into a short 475mm tube. That’s the whole point: serious wattage without taking up a lot of room. Perfect when you’re heating a tight zone and can’t spread out. It runs on high voltage—typically 230V or 400V, depending on the model. That matters because higher voltage means lower current for the same power. In practice, that can make wiring simpler and let you use smaller conductors than you would with low-voltage, high-current setups. But here’s the catch: all that heat has to go somewhere. Your surrounding equipment needs to be ready for it. If your machine’s cooling and shielding aren’t up to the temperature rise, the lamp won’t last as long. Plan for the heat, and it rewards you.
Inside the build: halogen, quartz, and a solid connection
At the heart of it is the halogen cycle inside a quartz envelope. Quartz handles the extreme filament temperature and helps the lamp heat up fast. The halogen gas keeps the tungsten filament from thinning out too quickly, which helps stabilize output and stretch life compared to a standard incandescent element. We use an R7s connector—double-ended, built for high temperatures, and mechanically solid. It makes the lamp a straightforward drop-in replacement, so you can get back online without a lot of fuss. And the internal reflector? It focuses the shortwave infrared energy forward, so the heat goes where you aim it—not all over the place.
What it’s for—and why it feels good on the shop floor
This lamp shines when you need fast response and control: thermoforming, drying coatings, curing adhesives, localized heating of plastic preforms—those are the sweet spots. Shortwave infrared penetrates quickly, heating the target directly instead of wasting time warming the air around it. That means faster cycle times and less wasted energy. The lamp comes up to temperature in seconds, not minutes, so the machine doesn’t have to wait around. And the R7s base keeps installation simple. The quartz body is tough enough to handle repeated on/off cycles without cracking under thermal shock. Match the voltage and dimensions, wire it up, and it runs. We built it to deliver steady radiant heat, so your process stays consistent. When you need a lot of power in a short package, this 2000W, 475mm halogen infrared lamp is the practical way to get it done.
