Give you a blast of high-density infrared that heats the weld zone fast, over and over again, without drying out the material or wasting energy on the frame around it.
The Nitty-Gritty
When you’re welding PET, speed matters. Heat has to show up and show up fast. That’s why these bulbs are short-wave emitters. Most of their energy is packed into the near-infrared band, so the surface grabs the heat immediately and gets the weld interface up to melt temperature in seconds. The power and electrical specs are built to drop straight into industrial machines. Most run at 400V, which keeps the current draw reasonable while still delivering the wattage you need for quick cycle times. And the tube length? We set it at around 300mm because that fits snugly into compact heating heads and tight tooling spaces. Here’s the catch, though: packing high watt density into a short tube makes things hot. Really hot. Your machine needs solid airflow and smart thermal management around the socket and reflector. If you’re running full power nonstop, expect surrounding components to feel the heat—plan for heat shielding and leave enough clearance.
What’s Inside, and Why It Matters
The heart of the bulb is quartz glass, chosen because it handles rapid temperature swings without cracking. Inside, the halogen cycle keeps the filament performance steady over the bulb’s life, so you don’t get the output drop-off you see with standard incandescent IR lamps. And that golden coating? Totally practical. It’s an IR-selective reflective layer that pushes energy forward, boosting intensity at the target and cutting down on wasted heat to the sides. Installation is straightforward, too. These bulbs use R7s or SK15 end caps, so they drop right into common industrial sockets. The connector keeps the overall length tight and keeps wiring simple. When a bulb burns out, you can swap it without tearing the machine apart.
On the Line, Where It Counts
On PET welding lines, this setup gives you heat penetration you can count on. The short-wave profile heats the surface first, then moves inward quickly, giving you a consistent weld bead with minimal charring. The 300mm tube fits into tight heads, and the 400V rating lines up with standard plant power. These bulbs are built to be workhorses, but they still deserve a little respect. Keep reflectors clean, make sure the voltage matches the lamp, and double-check that cooling is sufficient. When everything’s set up right, the output is repeatable, cycle times stay fast, and swapping a lamp doesn’t turn into an all-day event.
